\nThe symbolically layered work makes use of the landscape\u2019s suggestive meaning; the contemporary, manufactured landscape in which isolated construction (fences, houses or roads) represents human endeavour.
\nThe picture can originate from film stills and television images, photography. A metaphorical landscape is developed, that seeks to transcend the particular. A painterly constructed and staged reality \u2013 not a depiction of ’the real’. Titles of the works, derived from imagery and lyrics of songs, emphasise this.
\nThe paintings refer to the melancholy of forlorn dreams, lost ideals. The work has a romantic as well as an ironic side, is both reflective and lyrical.<\/p>\n
